Six-time winner also named a best workplace for women for second year in a row
TORONTO, ON — April 19, 2012 — For the sixth consecutive year the Great Place to Work® Institute Canada named Hill+Knowlton Strategies Canada (H+K)one of the Best Workplaces in the country. Just 100 companies – all published in The Globe and Mail’s special national report today – were awarded this honour. The firm was also one of only six organizations to win in the “Credibility” category.
“There’s nothing more important at Hill+Knowlton than our people, and our culture thrives on their feedback,” says Mike Coates, president and CEO of Hill+Knowlton Strategies. “When our employees are engaged and motivated, there’s no stopping us. That’s why we put so much emphasis on making H+K a great place to work with programs that keep our people happy, motivated and growing with us.”
Working with industry-leading organizations keeps professionals interested in and passionate about what they do at Hill+Knowlton Strategies. As does the company’s commitment to professional development through training opportunities, flexible job options – such as telecommuting – and to physical health, with subsidized fitness memberships. Many take advantage of national and international transfer opportunities, with some Canadian “H+Kers” working as far away as China and Saudi Arabia. There is also an RRSP-matching program and formalized performance feedback from both managers and colleagues.
“We are focused on retaining the best practitioners in our business,” adds Coates. “Our benefits include a new ‘gift of time’ program that gives everyone who works here a half-day off before the start of every major holiday weekend. We believe that work-life balance motivates employees to do their best work, which in turn translates to incomparable results for our clients.”
”With more than three-quarters of our staff being women, it’s important that we offer maternity leave top-ups; a ‘Welcome Back’ program for mothers returning to work after maternity leave; and flexible hours that accommodate working mothers, such as the ability to leave early to participate in school carpools, among other special benefits,” says Tonie Chaltas, COO at Hill+Knowlton Strategies.
Company-funded social functions – from the traditional, such as holiday parties, to the whacky, like National Doughnut Day – and one-and-a-half pro bono days per year for charity work round out some of the many perks of working at Hill+Knowlton Strategies.
“Great Place to Work® Institute would like to recognize and congratulate Hill+Knowlton Strategies for its success in creating a great workplace culture,” says Jose Tolovi Neto, managing partner at Great Place to Work® Institute Canada. “Hill+Knowlton Strategies was ranked on our 2012 list because employees told us they trust management, have pride in their jobs and enjoy the people they work with. Employees care about their work, their organization and their community. Management was also recognized by employees as being highly credible. Hill+Knowlton Strategies is one of very few organizations that have been recognized as one of the Best Workplaces in Canada six years in a row.”
