+1 Facebook, Twitter or Pinterest?
Facebook, I think. I experience frequent bouts of Twitter addiction, but I’ll go weeks without thinking of a worthy tweet. Meanwhile, photos of my kid being hilarious happen daily and need to be shared.
+2 What’s the worst job you’ve ever had?
One summer during university, I had a job distributing magazines–which included delivering all the pornography to Collins Bay Penitentiary and most of the corner stores in Kingston. I had a bouncy old Dodge Ram Dually that guzzled a quart of oil a day and an expense account that I used for gas and Mountain Dew. Come to think of it, that job was also kind of awesome.
+3 Not including your own (newspaper/magazine/blog), what else do you read?
I’m always reading. Esquire, Wired, BuzzFeed, Slate, New York, Bloomberg Businessweek, GQ, Bon Appetit, Today’s Parent, the new Sportsnet mag. Even Field and Stream sometimes. Oh, and the Globe. And The Grid–and not just because I used to work for them.
+4 What’s your guilty indulgence?
I can’t think of too many indulgences that I actually feel guilty about. I know I’m supposed to say it’s watching The Voice or something, but I probably feel more guilty about my Wednesday night band practice–we’ve got less talent but more beer.
+5 Looking back, of which moment in your career are you most proud and why?
I’m most proud of the times I’ve been lucky enough to be part of a team building something new: First at Toro Magazine (no longer in print) and more recently at The Grid. The level of energy and excitement being generated and harnessed…I guess it stands in for all my unfulfilled rock and roll fantasies.
