Stellar H+K talent recognized on Top 30 Under 30 list

At H+K, we know we have smart, bold and creative team members—and, we’re thrilled to report that PR in Canada agrees! Congratulations to our Jessica Turner, Meghan Spilka O’Keefe, Olga Radchenko and Tristan Eclarin for sweeping PR in Canada’s 2015 Top 30 Under 30 list. PR in Canada’s annual roundup features young professionals who are leaders in their industry and communities. On that note, it’s our pleasure to introduce you to our talented team members who topped the list:

From small-town girl to senior consultant in Canada’s capital, Jessica sets her goals high and is quick to impress and deliver. Starting out her professional career in the public service, she had the advantage to strengthen her bilingual status and access a range of volunteer opportunities within the community—from political parties to non-profits to professional sports teams. Jessica volunteered with the Ottawa Senators’ PR team for four years and worked several international hockey tournaments including the IIHF World Juniors and the Bell Capital Cup. She also performed and trained for advanced task-specific communications duties for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games, the Muskoka G-8 Summit 2010 and the Toronto G-20 Summit 2011.

Jessica’s passion for sports complement her perseverance and ability to stay cool under pressure—invaluable traits as she continues to demonstrate an eagerness to learn, hone her skills and grow as a PR pro. She brings a unique perspective and winning team-player attitude to her H+K colleagues and clients.

Meghan is a senior consultant, also in our Ottawa office, with a strong passion for all-things defence and military. She’s been working in the defence sector for five years and has become an emerging voice on defence procurement—having published pieces in The Globe and Mail, Vanguard Magazine, iPolitics, On Track, the Journal of Military and Strategic Studies and Queen’s Policy Review. She has exceptional relationships with all major defence trade media outlets and national defence reporters—many of whom engage her off-record for background information on stories and emerging issues.

Meghan volunteers her time as a mentor with her graduate school and previously served as the VP of Communication for Women in Defence and Security (WiDS). Meghan also serves as an Army Reserve Officer with The Brockville Rifles where she is a Platoon Commander in charge of roughly 30 subordinates. What a force!

Olga’s passion for international affairs, deep knowledge of local issues and natural flair for communications combine to make her an outstanding consultant with H+K Toronto. She’s dedicated to her clients and her community, here and around the world; she recently served on the Canadian Election Observation Mission and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Monitoring Mission at two elections in Ukraine, travelling there in the midst of political unrest because she felt it was an important way to support democracy in Ukraine and contribute to Canada’s role on the world stage.

In her spare time, Olga volunteers her PR consultation for non-profit organizations. She also regularly writes about foreign affairs as a junior fellow with the NATO Council of Canada and her perspectives on the conflict in Ukraine have been published in The Globe and Mail. Oh, and she speaks five languages.

Tristan, a senior consultant in our Ottawa office, works closely with H+K engagement strategies and research and measurement teams. As the industry continuously evolves and organizations try to uncover new, innovative ways to connect with their audiences, Tristan demonstrates the power and necessity of public engagement. It’s the field he’s truly passionate about—helping create a meaningful dialogue and bring light to important issues facing Canadians.

In 2012, he co-authored a case study in the Canadian Institute of Health Research (CIHR) Citizen Engagement in Health Casebook, which assessed the design, implementation and impact of the engagement process used to inform Canada’s first-ever mental health strategy. Tristan has also contributed to writing for various publications, including The National Post.

Earlier this year Tristan leveraged his skills to help a local, non-profit counselling agency build solutions to communicate the value of their services to the public more effectively, while at the same time reaching out to the community and potential supporters.
