It’s only been a couple of months since we released our last 10 to follow: Media on the move list but a number of other key media have changed addresses in the time since. Here’s a rundown of 10 more Canadian media who are on the move:
Dave Breakenridge @SUNBreakenridge: Staying loyal to Sun Media family as his Twitter handle suggests he would, Dave moved from the Calgary Sun to the Edmonton Sun as its new editor-in-chief in June. Dave’s past roles include reporter, assistant city editor, associate news editor, columnist and most recently online content editor, all with the Calgary Sun.
Edward Keenan @keenanwire: Formerly the senior editor of the now-defunct magazine The Grid, Edward joins the Toronto Star as a columnist. Nominated for eight National Magazine awards, Edward is one of the most trusted voices in Toronto politics and civic matters.
Jackson Proskow @JProskowGlobal: A longtime Global News team member, Jackson has been named as Global National’s new Washington bureau chief. He’s replaced Robin Stickley, who will return to Global BC’s Early News in August.
Jeff Lewis @JeffALewis: Jeff announced his departure from the Financial Post after nearly two years with the paper. In August, he’ll join the Globe and Mail in Calgary as its new energy reporter. Other roles Jeff has held include Alberta Oil magazine’s senior editor, North Island Publishing contributor and a reporter for the Great West Newspaper.
Jennifer Wilson @jenwilsonTO: Jennifer resigned as a Rogers Communications social media properties manager to rejoin the Toronto Star, where she has previously held several positions, including editor of Toronto.com and Yourhome.ca. She will be the paper’s new senior editor of social media.
Kristine Owram @KristineOwram: Kristine, a veteran business reporter, joined the Financial Post as its new transportation reporter in June after serving as a reporter for BNN’s The Street. She took over Scott Deveau’s role; he left to join Bloomberg as an M&A reporter in May.
Patrick Brethour @PatrickBrethour: The new editor-in-chief of Brunswick News, Patrick left the Globe and Mail after nearly two decades—an eternity in the media world. While at the Globe, he held several positions, including deputy editor, weekly columnist for the ROB and technology editor.
Shauna Rempel @ShaunaRempel: Also gearing up for an August transition to Global is the former social media and tech editor for the Toronto Star. Shauna’s set to join Global News as its new social media strategist.
Richard Warnica @richardwarnica: Previously a Canadian Business staff reporter, Richard joined the National Post as its new Toronto reporter in May. Some of Richard’s career highlights include reporting for Maclean’sEdmonton Journal and The Tyee.
Rick Westhead @rwesthead: Rick, previously the Toronto Star’s foreign affairs reporter, is jumping on board with TSN as its new senior correspondent. Rick’s 20-year career has spanned sports, politics and business, with a notable period spent as the Toronto Star’s South Asia bureau chief.
