Emaan Ali

Emaan supports the Public Participation team in the H+K Ottawa office on a variety files by completing research, notetaking, report writing, project management and virtual and hybrid event logistics.

Most recently, she has been researching, writing about and advising on hybrid engagement tools and strategies for clients and the broader Ottawa office. She also fosters a keen interest and passion for diversity, equity and inclusion (DE+I) work and brings a DE+I lens to her public participation practice and client work. She continues to advance her skills in the area of public participation, having completed the International Association for Public Participation Foundations in Effective Public Participation training in October 2021. ​

Prior to her time at H+K, Emaan developed her skills and networks as a young community builder in the not-for-profit and global civil society sectors. She coordinated content creation, service development and communications strategies for public education projects on DE+I issues such as gender-based violence, racism, misogyny and Islamophobia. Further, her experience serving as a special advisor to a municipal city councillor and co-founding and coordinating her own grassroots projects allowed her to hone creative approaches to engaging diverse stakeholders in social impact initiatives. ​

Emaan completed a Master of Arts in Global Governance at the Balsillie School of International Affairs in June 2021. She also holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Social Justice & Peace Studies from Western University.​
