Strategic communications and public policy expert to join firm in early 2013

Ottawa, Ontario – November 8, 2012 – Hill+Knowlton Strategies (H+K), Canada’s top-ranked public affairs and public relations firm, announced today that Brad Lavigne will join its Ottawa office as vice-president, public affairs as of January 2, 2013.

Lavigne served as principal secretary to the Leader of the Official Opposition, both under Jack Layton and Nycole Turmel, following the 2011 federal election.  From 2009 to 2011, he was the national director of the federal New Democratic Party (NDP) and served as national campaign director for the NDP’s historic breakthrough election campaign. Lavigne also served as director of strategic communications for Mr. Layton from 2006 to 2009.

Prior to working in Ottawa, Lavigne served as chief of staff to the Minister of Finance of the Province of British Columbia from March 2000 to June 2001 and was a ministerial assistant to British Columbia’s Minister of Advanced Education from October 1999 to February 2000. He began his provincial government service as a policy advisor in the Premier of British Columbia’s Youth Office from September 1998 to September 1999.
