Toronto, ON – July 20, 2011 – Mike Coates, president and CEO of Hill & Knowlton Canada, the country’s #1 rated public relations and public affairs firm, today announced the promotion of two of the company’s leaders in Alberta.
Lisa Walker has been promoted to general manager, Alberta, overseeing the company’s Calgary and Edmonton offices. Peter Hunt was named the national energy practice director. Hunt, who remains based in Calgary, will also be joining the firm’s national senior management team.
“These two leadership changes will strengthen our position in Alberta and build on the growth we’ve driven in that market,” said Coates. “Lisa and Peter are both proven leaders who have made significant contributions to the company.”
Lisa Walker has been with Hill & Knowlton Canada for twelve years. She began her career at the company in the Toronto technology communications practice and helped to launch that team’s conflict agency, iContact. After running the national corporate development group, she moved to Calgary where she developed a strong crisis communications practice in addition to providing strategic counsel to a range of clients.
“Lisa comes to this role with a real range of experience from within the firm, and that gives her a unique perspective on our business,” continued Coates. “She’s a trusted advisor to her clients, but she’s also a strong business and people manager who will build on the quality performance and momentum we’ve seen in Alberta.”
Peter Hunt joined Hill & Knowlton in 2008 as the Alberta general manager, providing leadership to the company’s Calgary and Edmonton teams and their growing list of clients. He brings tremendous breadth and depth to his new role with more than 30 years of experience in oil, gas and electricity.
“During the downturn of the oil and gas sector, Peter grew H&K’s oil and gas business, while also growing revenue in Alberta and building a strong team of consultants. He is a consummate professional and is well positioned to continue to grow the energy practice across Canada. Our senior management team will benefit from his experience.”
Walker’s appointment is effective immediately while Hunt’s will commence in August.
