Women in Communications and Technology (WCT) announced that Jackie King, general manager of the Hill+Knowlton Strategies (H+K) office in Ottawa, is an Annual Awards recipient.

These awards recognize individual and corporate leadership that improves women’s achievements in Canada’s growing digital landscape. Award winners must embody and celebrate excellence, innovation and show a willingness to push boundaries.

“WCT’s Leadership Excellence Awards (LEA) recognize best-of-class individuals in their careers as innovators, mentors, trailblazers and leaders in communications and technology,” says Joanne Stanley, executive director, WCT. “The LEA Communicators Award for Corporate Communications Excellence recognizes Jackie King’s outstanding contribution as a communications strategist and adviser.”

Winning a Leadership Award in the “Communicator – Corporate Communications” category, Jackie is known as one of H+K’s home-grown success stories. She joined the firm in 1999 as an intern and quickly proved herself a trusted advisor to clients and peers alike, and was appointed to Ottawa’s top position as general manager at the end of 2012.

“We’re very proud, but not surprised, that Jackie is a Women in Communications and Technology award winner. An expert mentor, she champions her team’s achievements at every turn, and consistently keeps H+K Ottawa at the forefront of communications innovations,” says Goldy Hyder, president of H+K Canada.

Throughout her time with H+K, Jackie has pursued education and completed the rigorous Canadian Securities Course and the prestigious strategic management of investor relations Program at the Richard Ivey School of Business. Jackie’s clients span a number of industries and sectors, including: government, health, financial, trade, energy, renewable fuels, natural resources, aerospace and defence, technology, transportation and non-profit.

She will be officially honoured during WCT’s Annual Awards Ceremony and Gala at the Fairmont Chateau Laurier in Ottawa on April 7, 2014.
