Hill+Knowlton Strategies (H+K), Canada’s leading public relations and public affairs firm, is proud to announce the addition of Stuart Barnable as Senior Account Director, Public Affairs, to its team in Ottawa.
A knowledgeable and skilled political advisor, Stuart brings extensive operational and communications experience through his work on various municipal, provincial and federal political campaigns. For more than a decade, Stuart worked on Parliament Hill in roles supporting National Caucus, Senators and Members of Parliament from Newfoundland and Labrador. Most prominently, Stuart served as the long-time Chief of Staff to the Speaker of the Senate, the Hon. George Furey.
“A long-time veteran of Canadian politics, Stuart is exactly the type of person that we hope to attract to H+K for our clients. Not only does he bring a high level of experience and understanding of how parliament works in Canada, but he also brings insight on strategy that can ensure our clients are heard, not just listened to,” said Will Stewart, Senior Vice-President and National Lead, Public Affairs + Advocacy. “Over the span of the last decade, the Canadian Senate has been radically transformed and having Stuart at H+K ensures that our team and our clients are best positioned to understand Canada’s new Senate.”
In addition to his in-depth parliamentary, policy, stakeholder, and communications expertise, Stuart brings a wealth of experience in environmental assessments and energy projects, as well as public-private partnerships at the municipal, provincial and federal levels. His exceptional knowledge of the Senate and each level of government will help to serve H+K’s clients and stakeholders in understanding how policies and legislative agendas are influenced across the country.
“I’m thrilled to be joining H+K’s Public Affairs team. H+K’s stellar reputation and devotion to our clients is well-known inside government, across the country, and in within all sectors that are critical to Canada’s success,” said Stuart Barnable, Senior Account Director, Public Affairs. “I’m eager to use my skills and network to contribute to the continued success of our clients and the firm.”
Stuart joins H+K from his most recent position as Director of Operations for Canada’s Building Trade Unions, which is an alliance of 14 international unions in the construction, maintenance, and fabrication industries. Within his role, Stuart focused on strategic planning, which included workforce development, stakeholder relations, advocacy, government affairs, and internal operations.
