The Better Pharmacare Coalition (BPC) is an umbrella advocacy organization that represents more than two million patients in British Columbia through 11 patient groups. In 2010, the BC Government stated major changes were pending to the province’s generic drug pricing, and they were implementing components of recommendations by the Pharmaceutical Task Force.
We developed a multilayered program to influence government and key officials with the goal of reaching two million BC patients in a very short timeframe. Tactics included media relations, advertising, social media engagement and government relations. Our integrated team worked with BPC to develop a compelling narrative to reach the wide range of stakeholders – especially the Government of BC.
When the BC Government announced its changes to generic drug pricing in early July, patient costs were a key consideration.
