AUSTIN, Texas, May 12, 2016—Hill+Knowlton Strategies (H+K) is pleased to announce that it has hired Travis Considine as a vice president in its public affairs operation in Austin. Considine will serve under the leadership of General Manager Merrill Davis, a 23-year veteran of the H+K family.
“Travis’ reputation as a quality communicator in Texas and around the country is a perfect fit for the caliber of people working on our Austin team,” Davis said. “His depth of experience in public affairs and commitment to teamwork are valuable assets we can rely on when helping our clients manage their reputations and achieve their public policy objectives.”
Considine began working in communications as a co-war room director for John McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign. Since then, he has worked on statewide campaigns in California, Ohio, Texas, and on Capitol Hill. He came to Texas in 2013 to serve as Lt. Governor Dewhurst’s press secretary during the 83rd legislative session and subsequent special sessions. Most recently, Considine served as deputy press secretary in former Gov. Rick Perry’s official office and as press secretary on his 2016 presidential campaign. Considine earned his degree in political science from The George Washington University.
“My experience in the political process and with elected leaders at different levels of government this past decade has taught me how important it is to communicate effectively in times of calm and crisis,” said Considine. “The professionals at Hill+Knowlton have the capacity to take on any issue and the resources necessary to deliver messages to audiences across different mediums and on multiple platforms. I’m honored to have the opportunity to help Merrill and the rest of this incredible team work with clients on strategic communication and public affairs initiatives.”
