+1 What do you read to keep current on the latest trends and news?
I’m a bit of a social media junkie and when I occasionally go offline for a digital detox, I truly know nothing. Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn are where I find out what’s new and relevant, and what people in the know think is interesting and important. I love kicking off weekends with The Globe and Mail, but a critical part is using social media to share my favourite reads.
+2 If you could live in any city, where would it be and why?
At some point, I’d actually prefer the opposite: six months on an island where my room with a view faces the beach. Just me, my laptop, and time to write and read.
+3 What’s your “plan B” if you need to spontaneously switch careers?
In my career, I’ve been switching tracks from the web to TV to magazines, from editorial to corporate to marketing. Any changes would most likely involve looking for new opportunities along the same path. I’m intrigued by radio.
+4 Most coveted superpower?
It used to be stopping time. Now, I just want to slow it down.
+5 Which moment in your career are you most proud of and why?
I’m proud of several things. I like launching something new and even risqué. I like staying firm in my convictions and self-confidence until it’s up and running and the skeptics (including my own inner-skeptic) say yes! This characteristic applies to almost everything along my career path: taking on the role of editor of Toronto Computes!, counting down into the camera as television host for Omni and elevating CMA Magazine to award-winning status.
