+1 What do you read to keep current on the latest trends and news?
Definitely social media. Probably Twitter the most. Facebook is becoming more and more useless because it’s just people sharing cheesy videos now. I’ve been finding good stories on Klout and LinkedIn. But one thing I’ve been trying to do lately is really listen to what my friends are talking about.  Especially for the Metro column, which is very Calgary focused. My friends can often provide a perspective or story idea that I haven’t thought of.  It’s so simple, listen to what’s going on all around you! Why hadn’t I thought of that before?
+2 If you could live in any city, where would it be and why?
It’s hard to pick one city. I’m from Fredericton, which is a beautiful place to live. I’ve lived in Calgary for nine years and I don’t know where I would be if it wasn’t for the energy and excitement of this city.  Sometimes we talk about living in different cities, but I honestly can’t imagine leaving Calgary, at least for now. Living in Calgary right now feels like you’re getting in on the ground flood of something amazing…and I don’t want to miss it.  That being said, I wouldn’t say no to a furnished apartment in Paris.
+3 What’s your “plan B” if you need to spontaneously switch careers?
I think I’m already on to plan C or D. I actually have my Bachelor of Education, but teaching wasn’t for me. As a kid, I always wanted to be a writer, but I never thought it’d be possible, especially living in a small city on the east coast.  Thank God for the internet!  I love what I’m doing right now, but more and more, I find myself thinking, “What if I opened a small restaurant or decided to just be a barista?” I think as long as I have a roof over my head, I can make whatever I’m doing fun.
+4 Most coveted superpower?
I’d love to be able to fly or at least travel super fast. The internet has shown me that there are so many beautiful places to see in the world and I’m starting to get really worried that I won’t be able to see everything I want to see. If I could travel fast, then I run around the Great Wall of China on my lunch break and hang out with the penguins in Antarctica by supper time. Now, that’d be an amazing day.
+5 Looking back, of which moment in your career are you most proud of and why?
There’s definitely not just one. I’ve written a few Metro columns that I really think effected change. That’s cool. I’ve been working on my own for almost a year, that’s pretty cool. I’ve gotten the chance to travel around the world working with brands and writing travel stories, that’s super cool. I think I’m most proud of the fact that my parents seem to be a lot less worried about their son being a blogger instead of a teacher or lawyer. Now that took a lot of work!
